HANGING ART MOBILES
COLLABORATION WITH FUTURA MOBILES
Richard Jenkins of Futura Mobiles designed a series of colorful hanging art mobiles. The artist was looking for a tough and lightweight material for the unique shapes of his designs.
By 3D printing the hanging shapes, Richard was able to experiment with designs and quickly receive finished parts. There was no need to create expensive metal molds or produce large numbers to reach a reasonable cost. Inventory is filled as needed. Trivance Design and Future Mobiles also collaborated on custom connectors produced in both rigid and flexible plastic. His mobiles are available for purchase online through his website, RichardJohnJenkins.com.
FIRE HELMET MEMENTOS
COLLABORATION WITH INDEPENDENT HOSE COMPANY NO. 1
In September 2018, The Independent Hose Company No. 1 in Frederick, Maryland, celebrated its 200-year anniversary as the oldest volunteer firefighting company in Maryland.
To honor their firefighters, the IHC commissioned Trivance Design for the design and production of scale replica mementoes of the company’s historical helmets.
Richard Lyons, a retired member of IHC, provided access to the replicas of the leather helmets and was instrumental in getting the details of the design correct. Trivance created a computer model and 3D printed the 6” helmets; many customized with names of the firefighters. The memento helmets were completed with a smooth finish, gold accent paint, custom shield label and gift boxed for presentation.
The computer model was scaled down to produce 3D-printed holiday ornaments available on the IHC online store.
